In 2017 and 2018 on International Women’s Day, 8th March, the RHUL Politics and International Relations Society hosted the Emily Davison Memorial Lecture.
–
Emily Davison, aluma of Royal Holloway University, was a champion for womens’ rights, and was a leading member of the Suffragette Movement. She found herself in prison on over 8 separate occasions because of her numerous actions of defiance, and paid the ultimate price in becoming a martyr for the movement. This event seeks to explore and champion female empowerment as well as highlight the ongoing issues and campaigns.
